Jefferson Cano lives and breathes San Antonio and Bexar County. Our attorneys are involved in every aspect of life in and around the city and understand that we have a responsibility to give back to our community and our profession. Our firm is proud to support a number of worthwhile causes through monetary donations as well as personal contributions of our time. Whether it is by being active in our bar associations, churches or other charitable institutions, Jefferson Cano attorneys know the importance of giving back. Although the list is long and our efforts are significant, the following are a few examples of our recent contributions:
- Steve Allison currently serves as Representative to the Texas House of Representatives for District 121, succeeding former Speaker of the House Joe Straus. Steve previously served 12 years on the Board of Trustees of the Alamo Heights Independent School District, including 3 terms as President, and, most recently, chaired the District’s successful task force on character education, wellness, and digital citizenship. Steve recently concluded 8 years as a member of the Board of Trustees of VIA Metropolitan Transit Authority, including the last 2 years as Vice-Chairman of the Board.
- Lisa Schumacher Barkley is currently serving a two year term on the Board of Directors of the Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid, Inc. She has previously served as President of the William S. Sessions Inns of Court and the Bexar County Women’s Bar Association.
- Emma Cano currently serves as Chair of Seton Home’s Governing Committee and serves on the Caritas Legal Services Advisory Board. She has previously served as President of the Board of Directors of the YWCA of San Antonio and President of the Bexar County Women’s Bar Association.
- Lamont Jefferson currently serves on the Board of Directors for the San Antonio Museum of Art. He recently served as Chair of the Valero Alamo Bowl and previously served a President of the San Antonio Bar Association.
